HISTORY
Since our founding in 2002, Groton Parks Foundation has had many achievements over the years, including but not limited to:
2002
Founded and approved as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Awarded First grant for $65,000 for the John S. park entrance.
2003 - 2004
Raised $5,200 for fencing Groton’s pet-friendly “Central Bark” dog park.
2006
Raised more than $38,000 for the Tercentennial Legacy Playground.
2011
Supported fundraising for the donations to the Groton Paralympics Sports program.
2015
Directed $230,000 in grants from the Connecticur DEEP to the Copp Property for trail and access improvement.
Raised funds and installed Senior Center digital signage and created the “Walk With Ease” program.
Funded the Youth Gardens at River Front Children’s Center and Charles Barnum Elementary School.
2017 - 2018
Awarded two grants, funded a “Walk With Ease” program through the Groton Senior Center and funded the Youth Gardens at River Front Children’s Center and Charles Barnum Elementary School.
Opened the new Groton Community Center, renovation projects to update portions of Fitch Middle School for Groton Parks and Recreation programming use.
Raised $28,000 for Senior Center/Library Electronic Message Sign
